The College’s paramedic training program is a special admissions program; specific eligibility and admission requirements must be met.

Program Pathways

Garrett College offers the initial paramedic training program on a two-year and an accelerated hybrid cycle. Successfully admitted students have the opportunity of selecting one of the three educational options:

Time to Complete Program

Traditional 2 year: Two-year training program. Classes are held two evenings per week from 6:30-10:30 pm.

Accelerated Hybrid: One year or less. This is a hybrid model platform with classes asynchronously, online and in person on Wednesdays from 8am – 5pm.

Courses and Program Costs

The Paramedic program consists of a variety of courses including classroom, field and clinical portions which span a two-year timeframe.

Certifying Professional Association/Agency

Garrett College’s paramedic program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (click here for more information).

Upon Successful Completion

  • Prepares competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.
  • After completing the program, students will be prepared to take the national and state certification tests to obtain their National Registered Paramedic (NRP) and Maryland Paramedic certifications.

Classes begin yearly for Accelerated/Hybrid pathway and every two years for traditional pathway.

Applications for next program will be available after March 1, 2024. All applications must be completed and returned by June 28, 2024.

Classes will begin September 2024.
